How to choose a grinding wheel
For heavy stock removal, weld grinding and bevelling on steel, use a depressed-centre Type 27 grinding wheel, 1/4" thick. For lighter grinding, weld blending and finishing on flat or curved surfaces, use a flexible grinding wheel, 1/8" thick, in 46 to 80 grit. Match the diameter and arbor to your angle grinder and its guard, and check that the grinder's no-load speed does not exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel. Never grind with a thin Type 41 cut-off wheel, because it is made for cutting only.
