The most common autobody abrasive frustrations — and the right product for each one.
Closed-coat abrasives load immediately on soft paint and filler, reducing cut and leaving smears. Open-coat and anti-loading-treated discs stay clear 3–4× longer on automotive finishes.
Coarse scratch patterns telegraphing through clearcoat are caused by skipping grit stages. Proper progression from P240 to P400 to P1000 to polishing eliminates the problem without re-spraying.
Running too fast or using worn abrasives generates heat that bubbles body filler and warps plastic panels. Correct grit selection and fresh discs at low speed solves this without slowing cycle time.
